KVK Bikaner is functioning under The Directorate of Extension Education, Swami Keshwanand Rajasthan Agricultural University, Bikaner with the financial assistance of ICAR, New Delhi. It falls under agro climatic zone IC western arid zone of Rajasthan. The total geographical area of this zone is 77.01 lakhs, which is nearly 22.5% of the total geographic area of the state. This zone is still largest agro climatic zone out of 10 zones of the state. Zone IC falls under isohytes of rainfall 141 mm in Jaisalmer to 325 mm in Churu with medium date of commencement of monsoon 20th July. At Bikaner it varies from 83.7 mm during Dec. to 554.9 mm in May. This district has arid climatic conditions with frequent drought. The soil is sandy and average maximum temperature in the month of May and June ranges from 420 C - 48 0 C with high wind velocity and low humidity, the average rainfall of the district is 263 mm. This KVK was established in the year 1983.
